Super Newbies

So many moments in a span of two days. This post is going to be fast, I swear.

It's the first time we checked into the latest facility developed by the Las Vegas Sands.

There were so many people that I thought it's like runs on economies of scale. Many bedrooms, one entrance, and a major check in counter - with several sub counters and it was crowded. Throngs of people from mainland China, local Singaporeans and the rest were non-Asians tourists. It was at the lobby, at that time I wondered how crowded will be at the SkyPark, with hotels guests, and paying SkyPark guests. Some where amazed by the simplicity yet magnificent design of the structure, because it seems like two buildings are leaning against each other.

Got our room. My room facing the yet-to-complete Gardens by The Bay (disappointingly disgusting view but the Singapore Flyer and vast sea is like its savings grace). My uncle and family got the room facing the city. Magnificent, but they don't have the balcony. Which is a privilege for us because it's very windy.

Spent most of the time at SkyPark. The first time I went up it was about to rain, took some pictures, and went to The Shoppes for TWG, sampan ride, and window shopping. It is one of the best and biggest (to me it is) luxury mall that I've seen. Sure Vivo may be the biggest mall in Singapore but it doesn't carry as many designer label as The Shoppes does. The Sampan Ride was awesome though I have all the reason to be angry at the silly cashier for being so sarcastic. I confidently spoke to the rower in Malay because he does look like what until I heard his slang. After which we (my cousins and I) cooled off at TWG and it was so funny - especially when you dining etiquette is not at its best. One of its macarons tasted like I deserve a replacement or compensation. You can't blame my tongue really.

Went back to our room to change for swimming - mind you, it's almost eight? My mum called me to arrange for a surprise for my dad - pfft, I'm bad at surprises so I resorted calling for operator. Thank God I didn't dial for the emergency call button, which really exist on the phone. Heh. So here's a compliment - to the customer service agent.

I did ask for add-on complimentary services, and they gave me a suggestion. I swear some hotel would just say - no, we don't have it etc. But this one was quite helpful in giving a fruitful suggestion, and a transferred call. Can you imagine, my dad will be back in a few minutes, and I have to press so many buttons, and these are useful buttons. While waiting for the small-you-won't-feel-full cake my dad was stalled a little bit, and then the cake arrived, JUST IN TIME. They were like PowerPuff Girls and I will sing the the PPG anthem... "Just in time.. Trying to save the world..." Had a blast with the surprise.

Then on finally we got into our original plan of going to the pool - at night. Thank God I reminded myself and my cousins to wear a bath robe up because for one thing there were so many people (trust me, that's not the reason)

The following morning we woke up early (earlier than I wake up for school) to see the sunrise. Thanks humidity, dew, and whatnot, we can't see the real sunrise but we did have the SkyPark to ourselves until a period of time where people start thronging in. An opportunity that must not be wasted, I went to the pool the next morning. Can you imagine, Sunday morning, a weekend by the pool above all minions. People do really look like ants from high above. I should have ordered fruits to be eaten by the pool. We made some jokes about highly chlorinated pool - and for this, I won't complain their pool are chlorinated. It's more of a need than a way to save money for ionized water.

There was this silly moment, my uncle an I mistaken a water fountain for a jacuzzi.
"Eh, why is the water cold?" He started to put his feet in and search for the button to switch on the jacuzzi.
"Yeah, where's the bubble?" I asked. Thinking twice seeing some dirt in the 'pool'
One of the staff came.
"Sir, this is not a jacuzzi sir." She told my uncle.
"Oh, yeah I know..." He bluntly said and walked away.

I was so slow I didn't get the mistake I made. I thought it was foot bath until I saw the water spouting out - just like the water fountain does. This realization came a few hours later. Embarrassing!

Where are are the seals and penguins in the arctic? Oh! They're here, above!

Went to the pool again - it's a torture to be in the pool. Got hungry so easily after that, but because the view was to die for, and the opportunity that last for the next several hours then, we stayed in the pool.

Had a blast in Marina Bay Sands. I have many to thank, like my parents, my uncle and family, and one of my Malay Language teachers.

Three Series in Ten

Two days ago, I had one of the best days of the year. Two decades of living, and still going strong, and there's a long, long way to go.

Thanks to my family for the cake surprise, though expected, it still surprises me. Haha.

Syaz and Khai played a risky game. They came to my house at midnight, I don't know if they pressed the bell but I was rebooting my BlackBerry and was about to head for the showers until the phone had finished rebooting and right away I got a call from Khai. Guess what, while the phone rebooted, they came across my mind and I didn't expect it because I was tired and I thought, fine, probably exams season, should cut back on celebrating. I picked up the phone anyway.

'Open the door!' She said.
'Huh? What are you doing outside?'
'Just open!'

So I opened and saw Syaz and Khai and I was like, woah! It wasn't long because I had to sleep early, thanks to test on the following day.

Test was horrible, but I know I did my best. Had lunch with Cassie, and swear that stall vendor is the most stingy vendor I've ever seen. Such a disgrace to my own community seriously.

That afternoon had a meeting Ms R for Final Year Project (FYP) report, somehow this thing still clings to us even after submission date, but it was all for the better. Suppose to meet Syaz in town at 2pm, and yours truly, being the VIP, was late.

Meeting started at noon. Report discussion till 1pm. Redid the entire report for 3 hours. See, the worse thing is to have the report, and to redo with existing report we have is harder than starting from scratch, but given the circumstances, like we have much choice? No matter, we did our best and we shall applause to our team work (Cass and Huiting). I could have excused myself from redoing it and meet my stranded friend in town but really, thank God there was Cassie to accompany him while waiting for me. I couldn't be more grateful. I felt bad then.

So, I 'limousine' down to town, and I should have taken down these two cabs plate number, complain to the media, and spam call all the cab companies to fetch me from campus and alight me at ION. Seriously, two rejected my destination. It's not even peak hour, it's not even change in shift period. Well, I didn't know they are not allowed to 'choose' passenger, especially sober ones in broad daylight until Syaz told me.

When I arrived, I saw Cass first and she passed me my gift, and Syaz was busy window shopping at one of the Topman shelves. Pffft, I look myself in the mirror, I looked horrible, unkempt.

Cass had to go to meet her date, so the two of us decided to catch Black Swan. The most awkward show ever, but the storyline was good. I even wikied Black Swan while watching to check if it's a horror or what.

Had dinner at this Indonesian restaurant, forgot its name, but the Satay was good. Played Monopoly Deal and that was my first time winning a game but I think the card was not shuffled well Syaz! Chatted about myself the entire time - and Syaz bothered to listen. Even if it's my day, I felt so conceited - which is bad. You're still the best.

Headed back and halfway through I parted with him to meet Fiz and Nat.

So much for surprises, I managed to guess where these two 'surprise whisperers' are bringing me. Mount Faber - for I don't know what reason, then Swensen's at SIN for dessert. I've escaped from my karma of blindfolding them, thank goodness. They said there'll be a second surprise, but I don't think so. Inside joke: You guys are too loaded to treat me Swensen's. How much did you guys spend again? Hah, but it was fun and for the better too right!

The day ended. Threw myself on the bed, I was so beat.

Thank you for all your wishes and gift(s). All of you are one of the best gifts I've gotten. Love you all. XO

It wouldn't be right to end this music without decrescendo so we had a class gathering and work with not-so-abundant class funds. Because of public holiday, it's like having the majority of the city being asleep, even in the virtual world it happens.

We have to resort to buying our BBQ food and materials the traditional way - by using shopping cart. Not my way of shopping because you will have to browse every aisle to make sure you get what you need but do we even have much choice?

Some were stranded in school for interview, while some probably escaped (erhem!) the shopping part and just attend the party and of course some had their valid reason. It's okay, as long as you don't complain what there is not, otherwise I'd throw you into the pool nearby then.

Starting the fire isn't my cup of tea. I mean, I do know how to start the fire - if you're talking about the press-and-turn kind of gas, yes. Starting fire from fire starter and charcoal? Man, do I even live in the stone age? Kudos to the people who knows how to start the fire, I am amazed really.

The BBQ went well, though I love the ice cream (I feel like eating again, Neapolitan) more than anything else. I still like the sausages (which is not burnt unlike others I've seen) and well cooked chicken.

My class is just odd, though in even numbers. Seriously, but they're all good.

Definition of limousine: Large luxurious car; usually driven by a chauffeur. (Check them out if you don't believe me)

So, if really that 'limousine' is a limousine, I've probably been scammed because I don't feel luxurious sitting in broken PVC coated seat, and being charged at a higher price for a vehicles that runs on cheap diesel.
