Tealy Premium Tea - Essential to Unwind

Life has been crazy lately especially when I have to fulfil my social obligation at functions, juggling with studies, and pursuing my hobbies and passion. Dragonboat training could easily take half of my week and with my backlog in studies, I have never drank so much coffee and lots of protein rich food in a week!

For a start, my physical training has been immensely time consuming especially when the heightened intensity due to an upcoming race, my time is simply filled with either studying or being in the gym. With so many events coming up, I am grateful to even have the time to sit down and pen down all these!

Nevertheless, I am always grateful!

I have a policy of drinking coffee only when in need. I like the aroma but I don't really like the bitter taste of coffee. No matter how much sugar you put, there will still be this bitter after taste because the beans were roasted which is why I prefer tea to coffee. Tea is simply more fragrant!

Apart from all of its health benefits, any flavoured tea can be tasted distinctly and not be marred by after tastes (unless you do no keep them in proper storage). I'm thankful to get to know a new product recommended by a friend. He is a tea enthusiast, and he knows I like tea! I am so glad that he shared some insights and recommended me some great tea!

Introducing you premium tea, Tealy!

With a history of more than two thousand years, tea has left an indelible mark on the history of mankind. Beginning from the Qin dynasty, it has since conquered the palates of every race, making it one of the most sought-after beverages worldwide.

As purveyors of the finest tea experience, Tealy explore the world of teas to bring you a sensory feast like no other. This is because they handcraft each tea blend that could you take you from the bold oriental East to the genteel luxury of the West. Each leaf is carefully hand-picked to ensure that only the best is brought to the table. As such, Tealy's premium tea isn’t distinguished by flavour, but by the adventure each sip unravels.

Every brew and sip of Tealy's tea is an exhilarating adventure. From braving the icy tundra of Russia to seeking the forgotten wisdom of temples of China, or simply stealing a quiet moment in the parks of London, all it takes is a swirl of a cup!

Every Tealy product bears its own tale. They present stories where each year, numerous plantations were explored to discover new and unique flavours. The prime tea leaves epitomises class and sophistication in a brew that started since ancient times.

Here, Tealy's new flavour Eights Secrets From The Far East combines 8 different type of green and white teas to create a strong-bodied characteristic for the blend of wolfberries, merged with the gentle sweetness from the nectar of strawberry, and the lush, succulent sweet taste of lychee. This delicious blend pairs wonderfully with desserts at any time of the day!

Green tea contains antioxidants called catechins; a subgroup known as EGCG that may ward off illnesses from cancer to heart disease. A study found that each daily cup of green tea consumed may lower the risk of cardiovascular disease by 10 percent!

I would also recommend Kimba Fruit Blend where you can taste the freshly picked cherries combined with a hint of cassis flavour that's bound to get your taste buds into a wonderful melange!

One of the great things about Kimba Fruit Blend is that it contains hibiscus which is rich in antioxidants that can help to fight ageing. Blackberry leaves have long been used in traditional medicine to address a number of illnesses and digestive disorders. Blackberry leaves are used in traditional medicine can help with gastric distress, and stomach discomfort. Morella Cherry on the other hand can help to ensure the healthy functioning of the gall bladder and liver.

To find out more about Tealy, log on to www.tealy.com.sg and check out their latest flavours and promotions!

With festive seasons like Diwali, Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, I'm sure some of you may need shopping ideas, and I recommend you this if you're thinking of getting something not only unique, but beneficial for one's well being.

Having said that, anything, no matter how beneficial, should be consumed in moderation!

The last two photos were taken entirely using my S5 and edited using VSCO Cam. Not bad huh? See you! Digital Fashion Week is coming up and we are excited about it!

Singapore Polytechnic DEPM Alumni Night - Then and Now

DEPM Alumni Night was a great party to start last weekend!

I was so delighted that DEPM alumni were invited to visit our alma mater not only to meet and have a delightful catch up, but also keep abreast of course changes, get to know our lecturers personally and on a more notable aspect of things, the facade changes done to Singapore Polytechnic (SP)!

DEPM is Diploma in Integrated Events and Project Management in short is a programme that equip candidates to be a professional in the events management industry. Students are given authentic experience through opportunities to concpetualize, plan and execute live events with SP's various industry partners. In view of the diverse range of events and the skills required, students are trained with a combination of event management skills, business management skills and technical skills. These include event creation and branding, event marketing and promotion, public relations, logistics, materials, costing and budgeting, audio visual systems, procurement, project management, industry specific IT applications, and more.

Themed Then and Now, DEPM Alumni Night was an intimate event where all gathered and enjoyed great food according to the theme! There were old school cookies and even kacang putih stand for us to indulge in!

I for one was happy to see my old classmates! I really hope more of them would make time to come next year. Otherwise, when else are we going to meet? We have indeed come a long way since we entered SP!

I was supposed to perform but due to some changes in my schedule, I wasn't even sure if I could even make it on that day. Fortunately I was able to make an appearance although not for long! I entered the campus and in my head, I thought I vividly remember my way to block W5 (it's a workshop block literally on one end of the campus). Half way through I got a little lost because the usual route has been upgraded and everything looks different now!

By the way, the dark eerie lorong (alley) at W5 is very well lit now! Anyone can walk without fear!

We reminisced the long walk from our campus to the train station and how did we survive going up and down the many flight of stairs because the blocks are on different land relief. Nevertheless, SP is the biggest, the first, and those newly enrolled are so lucky to be able to enjoy the newly built facilities!

Proud to be an SP alumni and I am definitely looking forward to DEPM's tenth anniversary!

26th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) - More Than Just Film

I am very excited as we are in the midst of the last quarter of the 2015 with so many exciting festivals, events and celebrations coming up! There are days when I am not feeling my best and what motivates me each time is to see my calendar and look forward to the exciting activities coming up from now till December!

For a start, it would be the 26th Singapore International Film Festival! It is no secret I have been a loyal supporter since before its return!

Following a highly successful return of the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) last year, the 26th edition of SGIFF is set to provide festival goers like myself with an insight into the region’s stories and the art of filmmaking through more than 150 film screenings and public programmes.

As the longest-running international film platform of Southeast Asia, SGIFF thrives as a gathering of the region’s independent filmmaking talents to showcase their works to Asia and beyond. It is also a platform for them to engage in conversations and ultimately contribute to the growth of this industry. This year, SGIFF will present 146 feature and short films from 51 countries, across 11 sections – Opening, Special Presentation, Silver Screen Awards, Singapore Panorama, Asian Vision, Cinema Today, Spotlight on Mexican Cinema, Imagine, Classics, Between Visible and Invisible: Alternative Vision of Chinese Independent Documentary and Tribute to Mohsen Makhmalbaf – showcasing the region’s story in film.

This includes the international premiere of SGIFF’s opening film at Marina Bay Sands, Panay, which tells the life and predicaments faced by Taiwan’s indigenous communities on land rights; Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Cemetery of Splendour, which juxtaposes Thailand’s violent past against quirky everyday activities seen through the eyes of an aging woman; and Singapore’s multi-disciplinary artist Ng Xi Jie’s world premiere of her first feature film, Singapore Minstrel, which offers a glimpse into the art of busking in the metropolitan city through featuring Roy Payamal, a stalwart of Singapore’s busking scene.

SGIFF will also cast a spotlight on Mexican cinema in its Cinema Today section, looking into the fast-changing perspectives of world cinema, which plays a part in influencing the art in Asia. Mexican cinema, in particular, has been on the world map with a steady slew of diverse productions each year, and a series of recent Oscar wins for directors such as Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu. Through a panel discussion and presentation of recent films by four emerging Mexican directors, the SGIFF will bring to Asia an insight into the brilliant aesthetics and talents brought forth by one of the most prolific film industries in Latin America.

Another special programme this year is the Between Visible and Invisible: Alternative Vision of Chinese Independent Documentary section, which gives depth to Asian cinema. These contemporary independent documentaries stem from the lineage of retaliation to state-controlled media guidelines in the late 1980s. Audiences will be able to observe how these underground filmmakers confront reality with a bare and direct observational style, and through the voice of the minorities, provide alternative and microcosmic views of China to the world.

Staying true to its mission, SGIFF will continue to connect industry players and festival goers, facilitate conversations on filmmaking and foster greater appreciation towards independent cinema. Last year, SGIFF launched new initiatives, Southeast Asian Film Lab, Youth Jury & Critics Programme and introduced the Southeast Asian Short Film category in its Silver Screen Awards to forecast and nurture the next generation of film community. This year, SGIFF will introduce a new Audience Choice Award in recognition of the growing desire by festival goers for greater involvement. Audiences can now vote for their favourite feature film from the various sections, including the Asian Feature Film Competition Films as part of Silver Screen Awards. The winning Audience Choice film will be announced during the Silver Screen Awards, to be held at Marina Bay Sands on 5 December 2015, and re-screened together with the Best Asian Film on the last day of the Festival, replacing the closing film.

In addition, SGIFF will continue to provide festival goers with the opportunity to learn first-hand from the directors-in-attendance and guest filmmakers such as Terence Chang, Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Mohsen Makhmalbaf as they share their experiences and insights at various masterclasses and talks.

Running from 26 November to 6 December 2015, the 26th edition of SGIFF will take place across various venues, including Marina Bay Sands, which returns this year as Presenting Sponsor. The other screening venues are National Museum of Singapore, Shaw Theatres Lido, National Gallery Singapore, The Arts House, The Projector and The Substation.

Ticketing information can be found here.

The Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) is the largest and longest-running film event in Singapore. Founded in 1987, the festival has become an iconic event in the Singapore arts calendar that is widely attended by international film critics, and recognised worldwide for its focus on Asian filmmakers and the promotion of Southeast Asian films. The SGIFF is committed to nurturing and championing local and regional talents in the art of filmmaking. The festival serves as a catalyst in igniting public interest in the arts, and encouraging artistic dialogue and cultural exchanges. The SGIFF is organised by the Singapore International Film Festival Ltd, a non-profit organisation and holds the Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status.

See you guys there!

Lenka - Live In Singapore This December 2015!

Lenkalanders!

I am glad to announce that Aussie singer-songwriter Lenka and all her Sugarbombs will set foot in Singapore this coming December for a one-night-only headlining show! This coming show is supporting her new album The Bright Side released this year in June by Sony Music. You guys can expect to hear her old and new popular numbers like Trouble Is A Friend, Everything At Once, The Show and more!

Lenka has spent much of her time on this earth making music to soothe her own heart and hopefully yours. Her early career as an actress spiked everything with a sense of drama. Her education in fine art peppered all with visual expression. Her love of nature began with a blissful early childhood in the Australian bush. Career highs saw her tour the world extensively and perform on live television around the globe. Her recent entry into motherhood shines a new light on everything. And it all gets mixed up together to form the songs you hear here.

Lenka’s 4th studio album, The Bright Side was released in June 2015.

Lenka’s songs have been featured in many global film and television placements such as Moneyball, Ugly Betty (one of favourite shows back then!), Grey’s Anatomy, Old Navy and Coke, to name a few. Her work on Decoder Ring’s Somersault soundtrack won the AFI for best song from a film. And Billy Crystal once sang an excerpt of The Show at the Oscars, much to her delight.

Hear that familiar song from the video below!
