The Second Day in Bangkok - Exploring ICONSIAM

ICONSIAM is not short of being iconic.

I received a message from my university friend recommending me to go to ICONSIAM. He said the mall was nice and has a lot of spots for taking photographs. I thought it was just another new mall. I was wrong. 🤭

The colossal mall is showered in gold. The new landmark is the definition of grand and opulence. True to its name, ICONSIAM boasts two residential towers in Siamese rendition of Lord of The Rings towers. The mall is home to upper-tier luxury brands and decorated with luxurious Thai art, gold pillars and ceilings. The temple for luxury labels and home to culture also features an indoor floating market which makes it a very cultural experience.

It is the refuge for the rich Thais to find solace in retail therapy. The symbolism felt veritable as I took the shuttle boat from across the river.

If shopping is an act of worship, being in ICONSIAM is like being in pilgrim. At some point, it felt like the mall version of magnificence in the story of Queen Sheba. Whether or not you shop, you will leave the place being in awe.

When I arrived, they had an opening of its new wing. It seems like no expenses were spared for this new icon. Even the toilet was super clean and aesthetically well designed. It has a ginormous round mirror which goes against the convention of all other malls. Goodbye, right-angled mirrors because somehow the mirror makes you want to ask who is the fairest of all. I was just afraid real answers would appear, so I did not dare ask. Advertisements were displayed in the washroom using projectors and the lighting is superb.

I spent quite some time getting a selfie to my liking before dinner.

Dinner there was great as the restaurant overlooks the river and at night, it displays an epic water fountain show at the ICONIC Multimedia Water Feature the likes of Spectra at Marina Bay Sands and The Dubai Fountain at Burj Khalifa.

After dinner, we explored SookSiam that features all the street food from its other provinces in the style of the floating market. Finally, I got a dose of Bangkok's floating market! Made me feel super cultured. If you are feeling adventurous to try the street food, they are full of it!

I will not want to miss ICONSIAM the next time I am there.
